Sheet Metal

Custom sheet metal fabrication for Melbourne’s commercial construction sector — from architectural cladding and façade systems through to precision flashings, liners, trims, and bespoke components.

Commercial Sheet Metal Fabrication Melbourne.

Sheet metal fabrication underpins a huge range of commercial construction work — from the architectural cladding panels that define a building’s exterior character, to the flashings and liners that protect it from water and weather behind the scenes. At Straight Up Metal Services, we handle the full spectrum.

Everything is cut, folded, rolled, and finished in our Somerton workshop to exact project drawings. Our team works across all common sheet metals — mild steel, stainless, aluminium, and zinc — and can match any finish, profile, or fixing detail required by the design.

What we fabricate.

Whatever the profile, whatever the length — if it can be cut and folded, our 4-metre guillotine and brake press can make it. Get in touch with the team to discuss your sheet metal requirements.

Custom Sheet Metal & Façade Components

Using our 4-metre NC guillotine and 4-metre CNC brake press, we cut and fold custom sheet metal components for exterior applications — long-run façade panels, feature skins, perforated screens, and architectural metalwork that forms part of a building’s exterior. Every component is fabricated to exact dimensions from project drawings, ready to install cleanly on site.

We work in mild steel, stainless, aluminium, and zinc across a wide range of profiles and fold configurations — producing components that suit the project’s aesthetic brief, material specification, and site conditions.

Trims, Reveals & Architectural Detailing

The quality of a building’s finish is often decided by the metal trims and reveals around its openings, junctions, and edges. We fabricate custom trims, shadow reveals, column wraps, and architectural detailing components that bring precision and refinement to the finished product — at exactly the dimensions and profiles the design requires.

These elements are frequently specified by architects to add depth, shadow line, and material contrast to façades and interior fitouts. We fabricate them in small or large runs, to repeating or one-off profiles, in any material and finish.

Bespoke Custom Sheet Metal Projects

Not every sheet metal requirement fits a standard category. We regularly fabricate one-off and bespoke sheet metal components for builders and contractors who need something specific — a custom equipment housing, a structural bracket skin, a machine guard, a concealed mechanical component, or a purpose-made architectural element that doesn’t exist off the shelf.

If you have a drawing, a sketch, or even just a brief, bring it to us. Our workshop is equipped to cut, fold, roll, weld, and finish virtually any sheet metal form our clients require.

Our Machinery

NC Guillotine

Our 4-metre NC guillotine allows us to shear full-width sheet metal in a single, clean cut — handling mild steel, stainless, and aluminium plate to exact dimensions without the need to join shorter sections. This capacity means less waste, fewer seams, and a cleaner finished product across large-format cladding, panel, and trim applications.

CNC Brake Press

Our 4-metre CNC brake press folds sheet metal profiles to precise angles and dimensions across the full 4-metre width — producing consistent, repeatable bends across long runs of cladding, trims, and custom profiles. CNC control means tight tolerances are maintained from the first piece to the last, regardless of run length.

From Drawing to Finished Sheet Metal.

01

Drawing & Brief Review

We review your architectural or construction drawings — or work from site measurements and a brief where formal drawings aren't available — to confirm material, profile, and fixing requirements before quoting.

02

Cut, Fold & Form

Sheet metal is cut, folded, rolled, and formed in our Somerton workshop using precision equipment. Complex profiles and curved forms are handled in-house — no outsourcing, no delays.

03

Finish & Quality Check

Finished components are inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and profile consistency before leaving the workshop. Any powder coat or surface treatment is applied at this stage.

04

Delivery or Installation

Components are delivered to site ready to install, or we can provide our own install team where scope and fixing complexity requires it. We coordinate directly with your site supervisor to suit the programme.

Sheet metals we work with.

Mild Steel

The most widely used sheet metal in commercial construction. Strong, cost-effective, and workable across the full range of applications — from structural liners to feature cladding panels. Powder coated or galvanised to suit the environment.

Stainless Steel

Specified for premium architectural applications, coastal environments, and situations requiring a hygienic, maintenance-free surface. Available in Grade 304 for general use and Grade 316 for marine or chemically exposed environments.

Brushed No.4
