Feature Metal Fabrication

Bespoke architectural metalwork designed to be seen — decorative screens, feature stairs, perforated panels, heritage metalwork, and statement installations that define a building’s character.

Metalwork That Makes a statement.

Feature metal fabrication sits at the intersection of technical precision and architectural vision. These are the pieces that architects and designers specify to give a building its identity — a perforated screen that casts light and shadow across a public foyer, a curved heritage balustrade restored to its original form, a feature stair system that becomes the centrepiece of an interior.

At Straight Up Metal Services, we bring the same fabrication rigour that underpins all of our work to the pieces that are designed to be seen. Every form, weld, and finish is executed with the care these installations demand — because when the metalwork is the feature, there’s no hiding behind the architecture.

Who we build for.

Custom fabrication work finds its way into almost every corner of commercial construction. These are the sectors we work in most regularly — each with its own demands, timelines, and technical requirements that we’re well equipped to meet.

Perforated & Laser-Cut Screens

Perforated metal screens and laser-cut panels are among the most versatile feature metalwork applications — used as architectural privacy screens, decorative façade elements, interior partitions, balustrade infill panels, and ceiling features. We work with standard perforation patterns or fully custom designs developed from artwork or architectural drawings.

When a stair is the centrepiece of a space, every detail matters. We fabricate feature stair systems where the metalwork — handrails, balustrade frames, wire rope, newel posts, and connection details — is designed to be admired as much as used. From slender wire rope systems through to bold structural steel statements, we build what the design demands.

Heritage buildings demand a different approach — period profiles, original finishes, and fabrication techniques that respect the existing character of the structure. We work on heritage balustrade restoration, period handrail reproduction, ornate metalwork reinstatement, and new elements designed to sit sympathetically within an historic context.

Large-format feature cladding panels, architectural skins, and building-scale metalwork installations that require crane lifts, complex sequencing, and precision coordination with the building programme. We have the workshop capacity, logistics experience, and site install capability to deliver large-scale feature metalwork safely and on schedule.

Custom gates, entry screens, feature fencing, and architectural street furniture — designed to make an impression at the threshold between public and private space. These pieces carry a building’s identity from the streetscape inward. We fabricate to any design, in any material, with any finish the project requires.

Curved handrails, radius balustrade frames, spiral stair components, and other non-straight metalwork forms are handled entirely in-house using our section rolling and bending equipment. Complex three-dimensional curves and compound radii are part of our regular scope — not a special case.
